National Lifeguard Certification
Recognized across Canada, the National Lifeguard (NL) certification is the legal standard for working as a professional lifeguard at public swimming pools, waterparks, and waterfronts in Ontario and beyond. It’s also the designated qualification for supervising waterfronts under Ontario Regulation 503/17 for Recreational Camps.
At Toronto Swim School, we offer National Lifeguard certification in four specialized streams:
• Pool
• Waterpark (requires NL Pool)
• Waterfront
• Surf (requires NL Waterfront)
Each course is taught by certified National Lifeguard Instructors and evaluated under the strict guidelines of the National Lifeguard Award Guide. Final certifications are issued by National Lifeguard Examiners.
Course Prerequisites:
• Minimum 15 years of age
• Bronze Cross certification
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C from the Lifesaving Society or a recognized agency (does not need to be current)
Validity:
Lifesaving Society certifications are valid (considered “current”) for 24 months from the date of issue.
Whether you’re looking to work at a city pool, a camp waterfront, or even in surf rescue environments, this nationally recognized course opens the door to professional lifeguarding opportunities.
100% attendance is required for successful completion of the course.
Course Cost: $480 incl. HST
