Description

Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid with CPR-C
A Lifesaving Society Program

The Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid with CPR-C program at Toronto Swim School is designed for individuals who want to advance their lifesaving skills and prepare for professional aquatic safety roles. This program follows the standards of the Lifesaving Society and is an essential step toward National Lifeguard certification.

Bronze Cross

The Bronze Cross course builds on the skills and knowledge developed in Bronze Medallion and introduces advanced lifesaving techniques and decision-making skills. This certification is a key requirement for those aspiring to become certified lifeguards or instructors.

Participants will learn:
• Advanced lifesaving and rescue techniques
• Management of deep-water spinal injuries
• The professional differences between a lifesaver and a lifeguard
• Judgment, leadership, and teamwork skills for complex rescue scenarios

Bronze Cross is a mandatory prerequisite for the National Lifeguard (NLS) certification and prepares candidates for higher-level aquatic safety training.

Standard First Aid with CPR-C

The Standard First Aid with CPR-C course provides comprehensive first aid and CPR training for aquatic and non-aquatic environments. This course includes all Emergency First Aid content and expands into advanced first aid concepts.

Topics include:
• Legal responsibilities and decision-making in first aid situations
• Spinal injuries and bone and joint injuries
• Heat- and cold-related emergencies such as heatstroke and hypothermia
• Burns, abdominal injuries, and chest injuries
• Understanding heart function and when defibrillation is required
• Safe and effective use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

This course prepares participants to respond confidently to real-life medical emergencies.
